Two of my most important artistic achievements are related to Evidence-Based Design within healthcare communities. The aim of EBD is to reduce stress, promote healing and enhance a sense of well-being among patients and staff.
Several years ago, Rosalyn Cama tracked me down to purchase 6 paintings for the chemotherapy infusion bays at the new Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven, CT. It was the first time I’d heard of Evidence Based Design, and Roz is one of the preeminent designers to promote it.
In 2014, St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor Maine commissioned a 5 panel piece for their new medical center, a breathtaking space designed to put patients at ease. This is the 3rd hospital to purchase my paintings as part of their EBD protocol, and the 1st to commission a site-specific piece.
It is my great honor that my work resides in a public setting and has the ongoing opportunity to provide comfort and healing to those in distress.
